Match Analysis 20/1/08
Again, can't be havin a lapse gangstas!! So here we go againio...
When we arrived at the Stade de K2, there was a little confusion, the authorities not recognising the arrival of Straight Gulley and some wannabe imposters playin in our goal. Seconds before kick off, we had to break out the Tec-9's and perform the drive by to end all drive bys and clear the pitch for kick off, having not had any warm up or so much as kicked a ball...
Almost instantaneously after kick off however, Straight Gulley were dominant in possession (addmittedly we did kick off...) and were stroking the ball around, our players strolling through BF Falcons' meager defence. Surely enough, a few minutes in, a strong period of possession led to Scott pulling the ball back to the edge of the D for Marcus to slot home. 1-0 and smiles all around. We continued to dominate, although perhaps becoming a little complacent, BF started to push on more, and had a lucky break and almost levelled if not for a cotortionist-style goal line clearance from G with his leg pretty much vertical to clear! A close shave, but we survived. Re-asserting our attacking dominance saw Payne with a stunning strike rattle the woodwork to its core, a lucky escape for a floundering BF Falcon side. Not long after, a through ball found Scott advance forward, playing a somewhat unusual yet effective one-two with the BF keeper before finding the net. The half finished at 2-0.
With the second half arriving, the game was only ever gonna have one outcome, an opinion blatantly shared by both sides as neither seemed overly exertive after the half time break. Straight Gulley pulled a cat out of the bag with a breaking move from defence with some real Joga Bonito play: 4 players 5 passes and one goal courtesy of a Scott drive into the corner. At 3-0, we were happy to sit and let BF have a go, but thanks to some sturdy defence and some go-go-gadget arms from Preston with the usual batch of quality saves from one free kick in particular, the game ended somewhat unspectacularly. Unless you include Pete's pushing match with the opposition, and his delicate suggestion to the ref that perhaps the BF player should be sin-binned being met with a dissmissive "shut up" from the ref. Although thats less spectacular than just plain funny.
With another victory and clean sheet combo it was a good night for all. And Stone's back next week I hear, so looking forward to it!
Keep it Gulley
